The Original Scorpions back onstage in 2010 for a one-off charity gig

In 1961 the band , Ted Barber (lead guitar), John Barber (bass), and Ivor Knight (drums), recorded two singles for Parlophone Records, 'Riders In The Sky' and 'Rockin' At The Phil'. The singles sold reasonably well but not enough for Parlophone to record any more and the bands brief flirtation with fame and fortune ended.
However there are instrumental record collectors worldwide who just won't let bands like the Scorpions slip into oblivion that easily. Also there are magazines dedicated to the genre, such as Pipeline Magazine and New Gandy Dancer, that do a great job of keeping rock instrumental music alive.
In 1962 under the name 'The Ferridays' the band laid down three tracks for Joe Meek at his Holloway Road studio. Unreleased at the time these recordings can now be heard on The Scorpions 'Anthology' CD, all enquiries to Wooden Hill records, 48 Armadale Rd, Woking, Surrey, GU21 3LB, England.
Various permutations of the founder members under a variety of names have played gigs and made private recordings throughout the years until the present day.
The Scorpions are now, John Barber (lead guitar), Ivor Knight (drums) and Keith Strickland (bass guitar) and they are currently playing throughout the length and breadth of ...Surrey.
