SCORPIONS — FIRST RECORD IN 32 YEARS

The Scorpions, the British instrumental group whose "Ghost Riders in The Sky" and "Rockin' At The Phil"singles from the early 60s still excite buffs, return with a self- produced "Back To The Tracks" EP - their first release since 1961 !
After recording with the legendary Joe Meek, and (as the Phoenix) at the equally legendary R.G. Jones Oak Studios, Morden, the group faded from view. However, an old B-side, "Scorpio", was used in the 1986 film, 'Absolute Beginners'. prompting the trio to regroup. Since 1991, they've been gigging on a regular basis.

The new EP, which is a limited edition of 1, 000 only, kicks off with a version of "Temptation", first recorded by the Scorpions back in 1961, and also contains a version of "Telstar", together with two band originals.
The group also hopes to clean up several original acetates-worth of original material for eventual release on CD, including some priceless recordings for Joe Meek.

The Scorpions would also like to get in contact with their producer from the mid-60s, John Hawkins, last heard of in New Zealand.

"Back To The Tracks" is available priced - £4 U.K., £5 Europe, £6 elsewhere - from Sting in The Tail Records, 3 Oakwood Close. South Nutfield, Surrey RH1 5RX. Signed copies of the record will be available on request.
